This is a traditional frontier knife based on the Long Hunter knives carried by the early frontier settlers, buffalo hunters and trappers of North America in the 17 and 1800's
This is a big, tough knife designed for heavy use along with survival and defense situations.
Hand forged as always in my Vermont blacksmith shop. Made from a vintage 1095 high carbon horseshoe rasp. This steel in incredibly tough and takes and holds an outstanding edge.
Distinctive forging marks are left to show these knives are handmade and have a natural aged appearance.
It is 12 1/8" long overall with a 6 3/8" long x 1 5/8" deep x 3/16" thick blade. Handle is approximately 5 7/8" long.
The handle comes from a special reserved piece of outstanding highly figured gunstock tiger maple with the classic Birds Beak profile. And is attached with heavy duty "Loveless" Bolts along with a brass lanyard hole.
The sheath is made from 9/10 oz leather that is double stitched with a full welt and copper saddle makers rivets at all critical stress points. Waterproofed, signed and dated.
All of my knives come with a lifetime warranty. If there is ever a problem I will repair or replace it for free. This does not include abuse or neglect of the knife, or other use than what it is intended for.
